About Bee Bold Apiaries
Bee Bold's Beginnings...
After a chance meeting in 2005 while Joe was showing his bees at a Long Valley, NJ sheep shearing festival, Eric took the “Bee-ginners” bee keeping class at Rutgers and convinced Joe to bring a colony of bees to his backyard. All it took was Eric's very first honey harvest and the two started dreaming up a partnership.
8 years later, when the Executive Chef at the Hyatt Regency in Jersey City called Joe looking for local honey, Joe suggested the Hyatt try some hives on their rooftop. The chef loved the idea and it suddenly blossomed into a unique business. With a hand shake, a love for honeybees and our environment, co-founders Joe Lelinho and Eric Hanan formed Bee Bold Apiaries in 2013. They install and maintain honeybee colonies for clients which include The Hyatt Regency, area hospitals like Valley and Overlook, New York City’s Marriott Central Park, Johnson and Johnson, Foodtown supermarkets, and the Liberty Science Center --where they also keep a permanent observation hive exhibit.
